Tips for the week of 3/3/14 – 3/9/14
Expand what you hear and create by practicing unpredictable and different (to you) intervals and lines.
It’s really important to listen intensely (and react) when practicing and performing. Figure out how your part fits in with what’s going on around you.
You have to practice the elements of music. You’ll never be able to play dynamics well in a piece if you haven’t worked them out on your instrument.
When you focus you CAN write/ practice/ create/ improve…
Practice the elements of music individually: articulation, dynamics, tone, technique, rhythms, groove, tempos, styles, tuning, etc… And then put them together in your music.
Did you find any of these tips helpful? Let me know in the comments below. See you next week!
